The browser has announced the release of a beta version of its Web3 browser. The browser comes with an in-built cryptocurrency wallet for iOS devices. This is the latest step taken by Opera for its Crypto Browser Project.

Opera launches crypto browser for iOS devices

Since January, the Opera Crypto Browser has been operating on Mac and Windows desktop users. The expansion to iOS devices will allow the company to facilitate navigating decentralized applications (DApps), games and metaverse platforms.

The company has also said that the platform’s main feature will be the Opera Wallet to support various ecosystems, including Ethereum, Polygon, and Celo. It will facilitate these systems to trade and transfer tokens.

It will also be possible for users to access wallets compatible with the Ethereum Virtual machine with the native Opera wallet. Users can also integrate their existing wallets and balances with the Opera wallet.

There will be a list of the leading NFT sales and a news section offering live updates about crypto prices and gas fees on the browser’s homepage. The section will also alert users of airdrops.

According to the browser, it will offer protection for cryptocurrency mining to support the performance of an iPhone or iPad. The other security features on the platform include a blocker for ads, trackers, pop-ups and cookies.

“The Opera Crypto Browser Project was built to simplify the Web3 user experience that has often been bewildering for mainstream users. Opera believes Web3 has to be easy to use in order to reach its full potential and mass adoption,” said the EVP Mobile at Opera, Jorgen Arnesen.

Opera’s pursuit of blockchain adoption

The browser has also provided support for eight leading blockchain networks, including Bitcoin, Solana, Polygon, Celo, Nervos Network and StarkEx. The browser is also planning to integrate more proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchains in the future.

Opera also announced a partnership with Yat, a platform that permits the development of web addresses and URLs with emoji features. The feature allows users to search the web using certified Yats or a series of emojis input into the URL bar.
